Ew.

So the other day I had a bad sore throat. I was all like "ew."

And then my sore throat did not get better. And then my tonsils swelled up so bad that it was like the sides of my neck were directly fused to my jaw, and it hurt to eat and/or drink things, and just to swallow in general.

So then I went to the campus health center and was like "omg tonsils!" and they were all like "omg throat swab! omg blood test! . . . you probably have either mono or tonsillitis."

Now there was absolutely no way I could have mono, because I've been a huge shut-in pretty much since September, due to being sick pretty much all the time. So I was like "oh shit, tonsillitis!" This was a huge problem, because I was supposed to go home with my friend for the Thanksgiving holiday (Maine to the Pacific Northwest is a little far to fly for a four-day vaycay). And I did not want to be all "Hello Mr. and Mrs. Maher, Happy Thanksgiving! Now please take me to the nearest hospital so I can get my tonsils removed."

So today I got a call back from the health center with the results of my blood test and throat swab and what have you.

I don't have tonsillitis.

I have mono.

What. The. Fuck.

I mean, it does sort of explain why I have been dead tired for the past month and a half, and I guess that in retrospect, not being able to climb up two flights of stairs without stopping and/or getting really tired is not exactly normal. I just sort of assumed that it was a combination of me being lazy and out of shape and stressed and not getting enough sleep.

Now let's just hope my spleen doesn't burst <3
